Flex Interconnect Technologies (FIT) started with a humble beginning in December 1998 in a 2,000 sq. ft. empty warehouse space with no equipment, a typical Silicon Valley startup.
The focus of the company was to provide solutions around flexible circuit technologies to its customer base. The very first project started out as applications support for a designer, who was designing a 5-layer shielded flex with impedance control requirements. FIT successfully helped designer who was new to flex circuits with material stack up, impedance calculations, and reviewing the design for reliability and manufacturability, as well as made the parts within 3 weeks, delivering a quality product, on-time for $2,000.00, which paid the first month’s rent.
This success led to a second job for the same designer, and the end customer for this project became a lifelong customer, still doing business today. FIT was quickly on its way to establishing a reputation of providing the best solutions, integrity, reliability, and responsiveness, and has grown at nearly 30% aggregate growth rate over the years.
Today FIT is 10th largest flex circuit manufacturer in the USA, owns 2 buildings with complete manufacturing of flexible circuits and rigid-flexes, certified to the most stringent standards – AS9100, ISO 13485, Mil-PRF-31032 and IPC Class 3.
